The Alpha’s Diamond Sponsorship of the INTELEC® 2014 International Communications Energy Conference
The 36th Annual INTELEC International Energy Conference examines and analyzes the latest developments in communications energy systems and related power processing devices and circuits.
The theme of the conference was Resilient Communications Energy for our Connected World. Today’s society is becoming increasingly reliant upon being globally interconnected with voice, text, video, data and other communications by optical, wired and wireless mediums. At the same time, the integrity of these connections are being challenged by natural disasters, cyber-attacks, equipment failure, human error and other unforeseen events. Energy and power systems for communications are playing an increasingly important role in enabling uninterrupted communications and these systems must be reliable, robust and resilient.
In accordance with this theme, Alpha’s Chief Technology Officer, Victor Goncalves, delivered a plenary speech entitled, “Resilient Power Systems in Distributed Communications Networks,” addressing the issue of power resiliency in both wireline and wireless broadband networks. Furthermore, Alpha’s engineers and scientist presented thirteen technical papers on topics ranging from remote line powering to alternative batteries to energy management systems that optimize energy savings.
