Burnaby Welcomes Belgian Royalty

In the world of global trade, big names like China and the U.S. are usually the first to come to mind as partners with Canada.

But a European country best known on this side of the pond for its chocolate is hoping to change minds and get in on the trade action with Canada.

This week, a trade delegation from Belgium was in the Lower Mainland looking to drum up some business, and on Tuesday, the group from the country nestled between France and Germany was in Burnaby to check out some local companies.

One of the stops was Alpha Technologies, a Burnaby-based technology company specializing in power solutions that has close ties to Belgium.

OSP Magazine's 2014 Game Changers Panel Features Alpha Technologies' Kevin Borders

Kevin Borders, Director of Product Marketing at Alpha Technologies, will be featured in this years’ OSP Magazine Game Changers series, along with 13 other industry thought leaders representing North America’s largest carriers and suppliers of OSP technologies. Over the course of the year, culminating with the 2014 OSP Expo in Baltimore, Kevin will be providing expert insights into the constantly evolving technology within the Telecom Broadband industry, particularly Alpha’s innovation in DAS/Small Cells powering and Line Powering.

In Part 1 of the Game Changers’ interview series (3 installments appearing in February, April and June issues of OSP Magazine), Kevin describes innovation and the culture of continuous improvement that Alpha embodies, as well as highlights the eLimiter™ as an example of a recent cutting-edge development that is changing how carriers and integrators approach the DAS/Small Cells market.

BCTIA names Alpha a 2014 Technology Impact Award "Company of the Year" Finalist

For the second year in a row, the British Columbia Technology Industry Association (BCTIA) has named Alpha Technologies Ltd. a finalist for the prestigious Technology Impact Awards (TIA) “Company of the Year” category. With the theme of “BC’s Mark on the World,” the TIAs recognize BC companies for their global excellence across a wide range of technologies. This year, Alpha joins Fortinet and Global Relay as “Company of the Year” finalists.

This second nomination is indicative of Alpha’s incremental growth over the years, and demonstrates the company’s position as one of the rising high tech manufacturers in the province. Winners will be announced on June 5th, 2014 at the TIA Gala, held at the Vancouver Convention Center.
