Alpha recognized as a winner at the City of Burnaby Environmental Awards 2014
On Sunday June 8th, Alpha was recognized at the City of Burnaby Environmental Awards 2014, as a winner in the category of "Business Stewardship, for implementing various sustainability measures in their Burnaby business operations to reduce their environmental and carbon footprints."
Alpha was recognized alongside other prominent organizations in the community such as Pacific Blue Cross and Gateway Casinos & Entertainment.
Some notable achievements that were highlighted in Alpha's nomination included:
- Recently achieving ISO 14001:2004 certification for our environmental management system
- Alpha’s reduction in power consumption and redesign of product packaging to reduce/eliminate styrofoam and solid waste
- Employee participation in the Delta shore cleanup, Earth Hour and Bike to Work week
- Earth Foundation Conservation Society Mural at the Antrim Building
- Alpha’s Yoshi Team and ExCEL program initiatives
- The UBC Living Lab project
