Field Service Technician

As a result of our continuing growth, we require a seasoned FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN.

Reporting to the National Technical Services Manager, the Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation and servicing of Alpha products and AC Electrical Connections at customer locations.  Ensuring customer satisfaction with our products and services will be critical to the revenue growth of the company.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Installation and repair of Alpha products in the CATV, telecommunications, power, and mobility industries.
• Work with our Technical Services team members to ensure that services provided are consistent with service commitments made to customers during the service/sales process.
• Repairing power/control modules and complete assemblies.
• Testing and troubleshooting of products and service for proper diagnosis.
• Accurately record and enter repair data: materials used, time, flat rate.
• Place Power equipment, including concrete drilling, cable placement and connections for both AC and DC.
• Remove and Replace large DC Lead Acid, lithium and Gel batteries.
• Place Alternative Energy equipment including solar panels and associated equipment.
• Perform field service work under the direction of the Technical Services Team.
• Perform customer/partner training on repair practices and system operation.
• Perform other duties with minimal supervision and priority as needed.

Credentials & Experience:

• Red Seal Construction and Maintenance Electrician is an asset and may be a requirement
• Diploma of Technology or B.Eng an asset
• Experience in field work (installations/repair) required.
• 5 - 10 years experience in the CATV, telecommunications and/or power industries highly desirable.
• Experience in the installation and maintenance of three phase power equipment.
• Experience in the installation of DC power equipment and batteries.
• Excellent English speaking/communication skills required (verbal and written).
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
• Excellent Computer skills.

Work Environment:

• 8:00am - 4:30pm  Monday – Friday
• Regular after-hour support required for live power work during maintenance windows
• Considerable time spent at customer locations and utilization of work vehicles
• Requirement to travel to remote sites, possibly using non-commercial travel mediums
• Extensive travel required in Canada (valid passport required)
